A man has won a five-year legal battle to have a drawing of a penis recognised as his official signature. Australian Jared Hyams scribbled the tiny member on an election form as a joke.
But he was shocked when officials got in touch to telling him he couldn't use the 'offensive' symbol as his signature.
He
then tried to get the sketch accepted on his driving licence, proof of
age ID card and even his passport - and he was refused each time, with
government chiefs complaining the image was "offensive" and "could
constitute sexual harassment."
Hyams, 33, from Melbourne, said: "I thought it would be a laugh... but
the s**t hit the fan. I was receiving letters and phone calls telling me
I couldn't have it. I thought, that's interesting, why not?
"It sparked something in me. I didn't understand if these people were offended or had taken it personally."
Determined
not to be beaten, the mature student kept filling out forms - and
eventually sneaked the phallus past officials and it now sits proudly on
his driving licence, health care card, bank account forms, library card
and student ID.
Madness Personified!!!
