According to 101 Great Goals, Footy Leaks have got to their hands on Eliaquim Mangala’s transfer contract from FC Porto to Man City.
Back in August 2014, Mangala made his move to the Premier League. According to the official disclosures, Manchester Citysigned the defender for an undisclosed fee.
That said, the word on the street has always been that Mangala cost City around £32 million.
Mangala’s transfer was complicated as his economic rights were split between three different parties.
FC Porto, in fact, only owned 56.67% of his economic rights.
The
Doyen Sports Investment group, meanwhile, owned 33.33% of the player’s
economic rights, while a German company owned the remaining 10%.
According to the contract, Man City agreed to pay Porto €30.5 million for their portion of Mangala.
That being the case, Man City would have likely paid €53.8 million to acquire the entire economic rights of the French defender.
Rather than costing £32 million then, Mangala actually cost Man City £41.4 million.
Looking at the broader picture, the discovery of the true details of
the Mangala deal is likely to annoy many City fans, as the defender
still fails to convince many supporters that he’s been a worthwhile
addition to their squad.
