Futbol Club Barcelona were today rocked with the news that
Javier Mascherano has been handed a 1-year prison sentence for fiscal
fraud
The Argentine accepted the sentence in court today, as well
as an 800,000 euro fine, on top of repaying the full amount of tax he
owes to Hacienda.
Given that the press are not normally granted access inside the court room for such cases, it is quite incredible to see this video footage of the Barcelona player being handed his sentence by the judge.
Mascherano is set to appeal the sentence, and Barcelona fans will be
hoping an alternative solution can be found which would avoid the player
going behind bars.
