US couple accused of holding Nigerian nanny captive for two years

A statement from the Federal Bureau of Investigation alleges that Chudy and Sandra Nsobundu, 56 and 50, respectively, were detained on Monday on charges of forced labor, withholding documents, conspiracy to harbour an illegal immigrant and visa fraud.
Federal authorities have arrested a Texas, United States of America husband and wife for allegedly forcing a 38-year-old Nigeria national to care for their five children over a two-year-period and never paying her.
Chudy and Sandra Nsobundu were arrested Monday on charges of forced labour, withholding documents, conspiracy to harbour an illegal immigrant and visa fraud.

According to a criminal complaint, the 38-year-old nanny says she was promised $100 per month but has never been paid in her two years in the U.S. She told investigators that the couple physically and verbally abused her.


She was rescued in October following a tip to an anti-human trafficking group. The Nsobundus face an initial appearance Tuesday in federal court in Houston.Online court records don’t list attorneys to speak on behalf of them.
