New episodes of the originally Welsh series will be on UK TV screens in 2016, but its creator Mike Young has said some of the characters may need a revamp.
Speaking in 2014, he said: “Popeye used to smash people in the face. And it was very funny.
He continued:
“In SuperTed, we had a gun-slinging cowboy, a flamboyantly gay skeleton and a fat guy who had jokes made about his weight.“And all these things you just wouldn’t do today. But you can still write the show in a funny, entertaining way.”The show, which featured a rejected teddy, who got turned into a flying, crime-fighting super bear, was originally developed for S4C, but later was translated from Welsh into English and went to the BBC.
