The Red Devils approached Nagatomo, who is out of contract in the summer, about making the move to Old Trafford as they desperately sought to bring in a defender before the transfer window closed.
But the 29-year-old, capped 83 times by Japan, rejected their advances and has now spoken of his desire to extend his stay at the San Siro.
"I like everything about Inter, I want to stay here and renew my contract," he told Inter's TV channel.
"I turned down an offer from Manchester United, as my desire is to stay here.
Nagatomo joined Inter in 2011 and has gone on to make over 150 appearances for the Serie A side.
