Loyal dog pines for dying pal through the night as no one offers help

Sad pictures show a loyal dog staying by the side of a friend after it was run over by a car. 

Hero pooch Blackie could not leave his friend's side after he was killed by a car.

The dog was out playing with a friend in the street at about 4pm when his friend was struck by a car.
Blackie stood in front of his friend's body, protecting it from passing cars for three hours until one stopped.

That motorist shifted the canine corpse onto to pavement but Blackie's heroism was not done there.
He stood guard beside the tragic dog's body for 10 hours, waiting for him to wake up, until finally, at 2am, animal control workers to take they body away.

But heartbroken Blackie, in Hong Kong's New Territories, was not finished.
He stayed at the spot his friend was killed until 5am, hoping the other dog would come back
