A British woman exposes Nigerian scammer who claims to be a soldier trying to get home from Syria

A woman from Woburn Sands has been warning people on Facebook after a man was asking her for money claiming to be from the Armed Forces and trying to get home from Syria.
Amanda Richman, wants to make other people aware of the conman who is actually a Nigerian scammer.

Amanda was contacted through her Facebook page by the man pretending to be someone else who then asked her for money in a scam that is called catfishing.

A Catfish scam is when someone assumes a persona or different identity through pictures in order to trick another person into believing that they’re really that person online.

Amanda said: “I’m switched on but I worry he may try it with someone less sceptical.”
Her Facebook post has now had more than 270 shares.

The conman tried to play on Amanda’s emotions and even said his dead wife was called Amanda.
After he could see this was not working, he then threatened her.

As well as warning other social media users, Amanda also wants to find the man in the photos the scammer is using in case he does not know his pictures are being used in this way.
