Police said the 35-year-old football fan was knifed ahead of Tottenham’s 4-1 win over West Ham at White Hart Lane.
Witnesses said on social media that a teenage boy had also been stabbed, but police were not able to confirm the claims.
The Met said in a statement: "Detectives are aware of reports that a 14-year-old boy had also been stabbed within the vicinity of White Hart Lane. At this stage we have yet to receive a report of this nature and detectives are investigating only one reported stabbing.
"We await details as to whether anyone has self presented at hospital with injuries consistent with being stabbed."
The injured man has been taken to hospital and is not believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries.
Police confirmed they were called just before 3pm on Sunday and described the victim’s condition as stable. There have been no arrests.
The clashes, at the junction of White Hart Lane and Tottenham High Road, came amid a heavy police presence before the game.
Tottenham had earlier warned fans to arrive at the ground early as security was stepped up in the wake of the recent Paris terror attacks.
In a statement on their website, the club said: "In addition to the continued use of CCTV and search dog teams, we shall now be increasing the number and frequency of person and bag searches."
