A jobseeker with Britain’s biggest feet was hit with an £843 bill for a pair of steel toecap work boots.
Carl Griffiths, aged 23, is 6’ 8” tall and wears size 21 shoes.
He received training as a warehouseman but was told he needed the £843 boots to comply with health and safety rules for the £7-an-hour job.
Carl said: “I couldn’t believe my ears - and they couldn’t believe my feet. But there is no way I could afford that.
“My feet are enormous and I’ve always struggled finding shoes that fit.
“I had a pair which were a bit smaller from a few years ago but they broke when I was in work.
“I looked around to see if any companies were doing my size and was
originally quoted around £1,1000 to £1,300 which I personally couldn’t
afford.”
But friends contacted a local charity which agreed to pay for the boots to help Carl land a job with a food firm.
Luckily, a local charity agreed to pay for the safety footwear so
Carl Griffiths, who is 6 feet inches tall, could take up work as a
