Tongues are wagging as "superstar" ladies' man has reportedly been diagnosed with HIV, but is refusing to admit it for fear of lawsuits from his many lovers.
A well-known Hollywood womaniser has reportedly been diagnosed with HIV, but is allegedly unwilling to publicly confirm the news for fear of lawsuits from a long line of women. The actor, whose name The Sun claims to know, is being urged by friends to accept his diagnosis.
The paper reported "a US showbiz insider" as saying: “It has now become common knowledge that this star is HIV positive, something he has known for a number of years.
"His
lawyers are bracing for the threat of potential action. The reality is
that if he’s knowingly put women at risk then that’s disgusting and it’s
only a matter of time before that becomes public."
Some friends of the actor have privately encouraged him to open up
about his condition, but he has so far refused, the paper said.
A source told the paper that a public announcement from the "superstar" would be "a game changer".
Rock Hudson was the first Hollywood star to die from the virus, when it developed into Aids. Freddie Mercury, the Queen frontman, only announced he was suffering from the illness 24 hours before his death, in 1991.
Erasure frontman Andy Bell and Magic Johnson, the Los Angeles Lakers basketball star, are both living with HIV.
"Lots of people close to him have suggested he face this situation head-on and own it publicly," The Sun reported."Obviously it would be a huge story, but the reality is HIV is entirely treatable in this day and age and shouldn’t impact his ability to work or lead a normal life.
"It could be a game-changer in the understanding of HIV given that he’s a straight man."
The Center for Disease Control estimates that there are 50,000 new cases of HIV infection in the US each year. Approximately 1.2 million Americans are living with HIV – 20 per cent of them without knowing.
This actor is mean. Who could it be?
