Locals were furious when a mother claimed she spotted the man assaulting her four-year-old daughter.
The mother described how she heard her little girl
shouting for help in the district of San Martin de Porres, in the
Peruvian capital city of Lima.
She claims that when she ran over she saw the man,
identified as Carlos Alberto Linares Munante, touching her daughter
intimately.
The mother told local TV: “I heard my daughter
shouting “mummy help me” and I ran over and saw the man touching her
where he shouldn”t be.”
The man was then released by police without charge. She said: “We called the police and waited for them, but they never showed up.
“In the end some security guards took him to the police station, but they let him go shortly afterwards.”
The family of the little girl as well as the local community are outraged by his being apparent freedom and have staged a protest to have him recaptured.
