The spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force in Plateau state, Abuh Emmanuel, confirmed the incident to PREMIUM TIMES via telephone on Wednesday.
Mr. Abuh said the remains of the victims had been evacuated, but said he could not give further details on the deadly crash.
Some witnesses said some of the badly mangled bodies were given a mass burial near the scene.
Another witness blamed the accident on speed, saying both drivers lost control of the their vehicles due to high speed.
A woman in Bukuru, Jos south Local Government Area, who identified her self as Mrs. Chizoba, said she lost her younger sister in the accident, and that her remains were identified through her wears.
According to Mrs. Chizoba, the accident occurred at about 2:00 pm on Tuesday.
She said her sister, a student of College of Agriculture Garkawa, was returning to school after the Easter break on Tuesday.
