He did not leave a suicide note, but he was rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) almost immediately, but he died on Sunday afternoon.
Fellow students revealed that Jacob was allegedly, ‘forced’ to take the deadly liquid by some suspected cultists who wanted him dead for reasons which could not be ascertained.
Efforts to reach the University spokesman, Toyin Adebule for confirmation failed , but his deputy, Mrs Nonye Oguama, when contacted, stated that she had not been briefed yet on what happened.
“I have heard about it, but until I get to the office tomorrow (Monday), I cannot tell what really happened,” she stated.
About six months ago, a female student of the same institution identified as Oluchi Anekwe was electrocuted on her way to her room in Sodeinde Residence, New Hall on the campus.
Oluchi, a 300-level student of Accounting, who hails from Aku in Enugu state, was electrocuted when a high tension wire fell on her in front of the hall in the campus.
She was immediately rushed to LUTH but was pronounced dead on arrival.
