Woman dies and children hospitalised after Limerick crash

A woman has been killed and her husband and two children injured in a road crash in Co Limerick.
Risikat Oyebanji, a Nigerian national who was living in Tralee, Co Kerry in Ireland. The 39-year-old Nigerian woman was the driver of a car that crashed into a road sign at the Applegreen Service Station at Coolanoran outside Newcastlewest around 11.30 on Saturday night.

It’s understood she had collected her husband from Dublin Airport and the family were returning to Tralee where they live when the crash occurred.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and a post mortem will take place at University Hospital Limerick.

Her son and daughter, aged 13 and 12 were backseat passengers in the car while her husband, in his 40’s, was in the front passenger seat. They were taken to UHL with non-life-threatening injuries.

A stop-go system is in operation on the N20 at the crash site, however the road will be fully closed later to allow for a technical examination.
