A Saudi passenger aircraft captain died just before landing
in the Gulf Kingdom and the company said his aide succeeded in landing
safely.
The pilot, Walid bin Mohammed Al Mohammed, was trying to land his
plane at Riyadh airport on Tuesday when he suffered from a heart attack.
“The aircraft and the passengers were not in danger for one moment as the assistant pilot managed to land safely,” the state-owned Saudia Airlines said in a statement carried by Sada and other Saudi newspapers on Wednesday.
It said the flight was en route to the capital Riyadh from the Southern Bisha town when the incident took place. It did not mention how many passengers were on board.
