SAS sniper killed five ISIS fighters with just three bullets. The marksman has been credited with saving hundreds of lives by taking out the suicide squad as they left a bomb factory near Mosul in Iraq.
He was given the go
ahead to attack after the men were spotted leaving the explosives HQ
wearing heavy coats in hot weather - a sign they were hiding suicide
vests.
They were on their way to carry out a
terror attack at a nearby town in which they would have blown themselves
up amid a crowd of civilians.
But the sniper - a 10-year special forces veteran - needed just three bullets to wipe out the entire unit.
He shot the first jihadi in the chest as he walked out of the factory.
The
bullet detonated his suicide vest which blew him up along with and two
Isis guards waiting in a nearby car to ferry the bombers to their target
destination.
The third member of the cell was also shot in his suicide vest which also exploded.
An Army source said the operation - 10km outside the Isis stronghold of Mosul - was a 'classic SAS mission'.
"The intelligence guys got information that a bomb factory had been set up in a nearby village,'' he said.
"There were too many civilian homes nearby and children were often around so an airstrike was out of the question.
"Instead the SAS commander in Iraq decided to use a sniper team and the operation was a complete success.
