A paedophile and rapist jailed for 22 years in Zimbabwe for raping Daughter

A 39 year old man was last Friday jailed to an effective 22 years in prison for raping his 11 year old daughter.

The man from Risai village raped his daughter on four occasions in December last year when his wife was away from home.

Each time he raped the minor the father would pour water on her genitals and wipe them (genitals) with either tree leaves or a piece of cloth.

Gweru magistrate, Collet Ncube said the man was evil to the extent of destroying his young daughter's life and therefore deserved heavy punishment.

Ncube initially sentenced the man to 24 years in jail but suspended two years for five years on condition that he would not commit a similar offence during that period.

Prosecutors told the court that sometime in December last year, the man followed his daughter to the fields where she had gone to scare away birds. He raped her before wiping her genitals with a pink cloth.

On the second occasion, the man called the daughter to his bedroom and ordered her to lie down facing upwards before raping her. He again poured water on her genitals after the abuse.

Again, during the same month, the man followed the girl into the bush where he raped her before wiping her genitals with tree leaves.

On the fourth occasion, he followed his daughter to the fields and did the same.

The matter came to light when the girl told her mother of her ordeal and a report was made to the police leading to her father’s arrest.
