The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Plateau State, Senator Gyang Nyam Pwajok is dead.
The spokesperson to the party, Olisa Metuh confirmed his death. Senator Pwajok recently lost the case against Governor Silas Lalong of the All Progressives Congress at the election tribunal.
The Head of his media team during the electioneering, Chuwang Dung, confirmed the development to journalists in Jos, via a telephone interview.
He however said an official statement would be issued by the late Mr. Pwajok’s family later.
Sources close to the late politician had told PREMIUM TIMES that Mr. Pwajok died late Wednesday in an Indian hospital.
Mr. Pwajok, a former senator, was the governorship candidate of the PDP in the 2015 general election.
He narrowly lost the election to Simon Lalong of the All Progressives Congress.
He was also the immediate past senator for Plateau northern senatorial district.
Mr. Pwajok succeeded late Senator Gyang Dantong, who died of shock while attending a mass burial of persons killed by insurgents in Barkinladi in 2012.
