Four persons, including a Nigerian couple, have
been arrested for allegedly murdering a woman with an overdose of a drug
when she resisted an attempt made by three of the male accused to
sexually assault her in west Delhi's Uttam Nagar area, the police said.
The four persons have been identified as Uche Chukwu Kalu (39), Nirvashi
Singh, alias Ceathi (41), Durga Prasad, alias Annu (22) and Gulshan,
alias Kannu (19).
On December 13, at about 4.50 am, a woman made a call to the police,
complaining that her friend had been murdered. The woman informed the
police that she and her friend are allegedly drug addicts and they
visited the residence of a Nigerian couple for consuming drugs.
The woman said on December 12, she and her friend had visited the
residence of Ceathi and her husband, Uche--both are Nigerian
nationals--at Rajapuri in Uttam Nagar and consumed drugs there,
according to the police. Later, Uche's two friends, Annu and Kannu also
arrived there.
"The three men tried to sexually assault the woman and her friend. When
the two women resisted, they were injected with unknown drugs by Annu,
Kannu and Uche. The woman's friend was allegedly given two injections,
which resulted in an overdose of the drug and she died.
The body was
disposed of at an unknown place," said R.A. Sanjeev, Deputy Commissioner
of Police (South-West District).
The police said they found the body near Madhu Vihar Ganda Nala. The
body was identified by the complainant as that of her friend, according
to the police.
The police arrested Uche and Ceathi from Dwarka Mod in
south-west Delhi and Annu and Kannu were arrested from Fatehabad,
Haryana.
"The criminals have confessed that they had given an overdose of the
drug to the woman when she resisted the sexual assault on her.
The
overdose resulted in her death and they disposed of the body to destroy
the evidence. The body was carried on a scooty, but the mobile phone of
the deceased was kept by them," said Sanjeev.
The investigation revealed that Nigerian nationals Uche and Ceathi came
to India in 2010 for a garment business, but are allegedly overstaying
in India after the expiry of their visas. The police are investigating
the source of the drugs.
