Man buys iPhone 6 but was handed over two bags of sugar instead

A Christmas shopper was conned out of £500 – when the iPhone 6 he thought was buying turned out to two bags of sugar.
The victim handed over the cash after viewing the phones in the fraudster’s car. But he was handed a bag containing the sugar before the crook sped off in a getaway car.

Police are hunting the conman – said to have been chubby, white and ginger – after the dodgy deal in Northfield .

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “A shopper was approached and asked whether they wanted to buy a new iPhone 6.

“The man was asked to look at the phones, which were kept in the fraudster’s car nearby.

“He agreed to buy one of the phones and went with the man to a nearby bank, before handing over £500 in cash.

“The bogus seller then gave the man a package and sped off in his vehicle towards the Rubery area.
“When the shopper checked inside the bag, they found two bags of sugar.”
