Holly Holm, who recently beat Ronda Rousey to become the UFC women's bantamweight champion, met the singer and her husband Jay Z in Las Vegas.
The fighter revealed the encounter during a chat with Alburquerque's radio station KRQE.
She said: "I met Jay Z and he says, 'This is my wife.'
"And I say, 'Oh, hi what is your name?'" But the blonde continued: "That is what I do when I meet someone's wife.
The Single Ladies singer reacted in a pretty surprising way and told Holm not to worry about the embarrassing error.
