Donald Trump branded a 'racist' after retweeting made-up statistics that claim most white people are killed by black people

Donald Trump has come under fire for retweeting made-up statistics about murders committed by black people.

The Republican presidential candidate was branded 'racist' by critics on Twitter after he re-posted the fake crime figures, which wrongly state that most murders of both black and white people are committed by black killers.

Dozens of people quickly pointed out that not only are the numbers wildly wrong, but the 'source', the Crime Statistics Bureau - San Francisco, does not exist.

Hundreds of people spotted Trump's error, with some branding him 'racist'.

Jason Snelson tweeted: 'When you make up 'facts' to fill a racist narrative, it's racist... not hard to put that together.'

Another Twitter user, John Semley, wrote: 'You know there's no such thing as the "Crime Statistics Bureau", right, you clownshoe?'

Trump's tweet comes the day after a Black Lives Matter protester at a speech of his in Birmingham, Alabama, was thrown to the ground and kicked by the Republican front-runner's supporters.

Mercutio Southall Jr claims he was called 'n****r' and 'monkey' by members of the crowd on Saturday. Videos taken during the scuffle do not show this.

'Maybe he should have been roughed up, because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing,' Trump told Fox News.
