Upset over ex-girlfriend's marriage, man commits suicide

Depressed over his ex-girlfriend marrying another man, a 28-year-old cab driver committed suicide by hanging himself at his Hassan residence late Friday night.

According to The Times of India Raghavendra aka Raghu was a resident of Adarshanagar in Hassan. According to his family, Raghu was in love with Tanu (name changed), a part-time lecturer in a college in K R Puram.

"Raghu worked as a cab driver for a call centre in Bengaluru in 2015. While he was living in a rented accommodation near Tin Factory, he fell in love with Tanu, a neighbour," his family said. But Tanu's family was against the affair and relocated to another place.

"Since then, Raghavendra was depressed. He quit the job a few months ago and returned to Hassan. On Friday, he got to know that Tanu had married a software engineer," the family said. Upset by the news, Raghu committed suicide, Hassan police said. He left behind a four-page death note.
