Kara Florish, 30, was angered after receiving a cruel card claiming to be from an organisation called Overweight Haters Ltd.
The
NHS worker posted a photo of the business card on her Twitter and
Facebook urging her friends and followers to raise awareness of the vile
scheme.
The photo went viral and another Twitter user came
forward to say he has seen another woman break down in tears after
receiving a card.
Police have launched an investigation after an organisation dubbed
'Overweight Haters' started handing fat-shaming business cards to
shocked women.
The card – which has the word Fat on the front – reads: “Our organisation hates and resents fat people.
"We object to the enormous amount of food resources you consume while half the world starves.
Ms Florish, from Southend-on-Sea, told her Twitter followers: "Was handed this card on the underground.
"Is hateful + cowardly + could potentially upset people struggling with confidence."
Posting
the photos on Facebook, she wrote:
"I am not upset myself. I am taller
than the national average and not exactly obese, but this is hateful and
cowardly and could potentially upset people struggling with confidence
and eating disorders.
