Public outrage as bored politician 'stops football match and orders penalty shootout'

Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz reportedly ordered the shootout in the final which was level at 1-1.
He is said to have grown impatient with the slow pace of the game.

The president of Mauritania is believed to have called the match to a halt, leaving the rest of the crowd infuriated.

The referee then signalled for a shootout in the game between FC Tevragh-Zeina and ACS Ksar.
However, this has been deinied by the Mauritanian federation's president, Ahmed Ould Abderrahmane.

He said: "I deny in the strongest terms the intervention of the President of the Republic.

"The decision was made due to organisational issues in accordance with the presidents and the coaches of the two teams."
