Kenyan man kills wife, blames demons

A 29-year-old man who killed his wife in Ndhiwa sub-County, Kenya, has asked for forgiveness, saying he was misled by demons.

Lawrence Otieno Owich reportedly beat his wife to death on Saturday before fleeing.
On Tuesday, however, he surrendered himself to the police.

According to Standard, Owich suspected that his wife was having an extramarital affair after she returned from a church event in a "jovial mood".

Cases of domestic violence in the east African country have continued to increase over the years.
The most recent case was reported in Murang'a where a woman set his husband on fire before taking poison.

Statistics indicate that 45% of women between ages 15 – 49 in Kenya have experienced either physical or sexual abuse, accounting for 90% of the gender based violence (GBV) cases reported.
