The new counter-terror measures mean:
- Sixteen and 17-year-olds at risk of joining Islamic State or other terror organisations could be stopped from travelling abroad – as existing legislation which covers under-16s is extended
- Radical preachers will be stopped from posting material online
- Anyone convicted of terrorist or extremist activity will be automatically barred from working with children and other vulnerable people.
In a speech later, the Prime Minister will warn extremism "is one of the biggest social problems we need to overcome".
The Government's new strategy is an attempt to stem the tide of young Britons who have travelled to warzones to fight in the Middle East, lured by IS's radical ideology.
Out of 338 recent terror-related arrests, 56 applied to suspects who were under the age of 20.
In February, three east London schoolgirls fled to Syria to join IS – and in July, their families confirmed two of the teenagers have been married to militants in the terrorist group.
