Amaechi’s Name Omitted From List Of Those to Be Screened Today

Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) confirmed that Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers State, has been excluded from the list of those to be screened by the Senate today, October 20.
According to NTA official twitter account, the Senate will screen only three ministerial nominees today.

According to NTA, the Senate will screen only three ministerial nominees today. The three nominees are Adebayo Shittu,Khadija Abba Ibrahim and Claudius Daramola. 

Unconfirmed report said that the Senators are yet to agree on what to do with Amaechi’s nomination. Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Dino Melaye, has disclosed that Amaechi will be at the Upper chamber on Wednesday for his screening.
He said the APC caucus in the senate has decided to back the nomination of Amaechi while insinuating that there are moves to also lobby the PDP lawmakers to support Amaechi.
 Meanwhile, a committee on ethics and privileges headed by the chairman, Sam Anyanwu were expected to meet on last week to review the petition against the former governor. Senators from the APC have expressed their support to Amaechi after their meeting last night.
