The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Thursday announced the nominees for the 88th annual Oscars, with “The Revenant” leading the way with 12 nominations, including for best picture. “Mad Max: Fury Road,” another best picture nominee, tallied 10 nods.
In one of the big surprises of the morning, Lady Gaga,
fresh off her Golden Globe win, was nominated for an Oscar for
co-writing, with Diane Warren, “Til It Happens To You” from “The Hunting
Ground.”
The Academy Awards ceremony will air live Feb. 28 on ABC.
