Mr John got a job as a consultant with one of the top banks in England. Life was rosey and smooth. Bills which included Tv licence, Council Tax, Sky Tv Bill, Phone Bill, Water and Sewage Bills, Electric and Gas Bills, Car insurance, Credit card bills, MOT, Road Tax and House rent were all being paid on time.
Life was smooth and Mr John was able to take wife on a holiday during the Christmas period. But just after the christmas holiday, just on the 2nd week of January 2017,he was placed on one month notice meaning he will be sacked in one month. After one month,he was booted! How does that sound? Not cool!
This marks the beginning of frustration, depression and heartbreak. Mr John started applying for jobs knowing fully well there is no time as bills need to be paid. Having fallen back on saved cash to cover the bills, it seems pretty cool that things are going quite normal but you know what happens when you spend money you have in the bank and nothing is coming in! It is called depletion.
Landlord would not want to hear you lost your job! If you owe rent, you will be evicted. Council does not want to hear you are jobless, when you fail to pay council tax, you will be taken to court and jailed.
Utility companies do not want ot know about your joblessness, if they dont get their money, they will sell the debt to a collection agency and boom, bailiffs will be lurking around your house, knocking on your door and taking way your properties to selll in auction.
If you defualt on your credit card and phone bill payment, that might end up damaging your credit report and once your credit history is damaged, you are finished as you cannot get credit cards, car finance, mortgages and other credit deals. That sounds scary right? This is part of the continous struggles of living jobless.
Mr John have had a lot of phone interviews and been to just one face to face interview. The employer said and i quote
" we are looking to fill this role quickly and would want you to confirm you are immediately availbel to start at least by the first week of March 2017. Also confirm you have not CCJ's, unspent criminal conviction and adverse credit history"Mr John who is a law abiding citizen confirms he is ready to start within the stipulated time and has not bad credit history as well as unspent criminal conviction. The inetrview started and was a gruelling one hour grilling on some points raised on his CV but then, after the interview, the employers confirmed they will get back to him in 4 days time but alas! no news.
It has been one week since the interview, no update, no feedback, recruitment agency that submitted his CV for the role has been left in the dark by the would be employers as they do not know what is happening.
Frustration is gradually creeping in and Mr John vowed not to defeated by this. Joblessness is not an option and claiming benefit from the government is also not an option having not done that before. Mr C is currently applying for new roles and hoping to get back to work soon because he has mouths to feed and saving is gradually depleting.
This is a true life story and example of what people face in their daily lives espcially when they lose their jobs. Always remember according to Vince Lombardi, that "the greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall".
Mr John wants people to be inspored by what he is going through and also to never give up in the time of difficulties and always beelieve you can!
