Update: Address Downtown Dubai hotel being cooled down by fire fighters

Fire was put out in record time; breathtaking Dubai show went on as planned.
UPDATE: The Dubai Civil Defence team is in the process of cooling down The Address Downtown Dubai hotel that caught fire last night.

The smoke from the bulding is not from a new fire but due to the cooling down process. Fire-fighting crew are on the scene monitoring the building and ensuring safety.

Assistant Director-General for Rescue and Fire at the General Directorate of Civil Defence in Dubai, Brigadier Ahmed Al Sayegh, said that the smoke rising now from The Address Downtown Dubai hotel is due to cooling process.
The fire brigade put the fire out completely in the early hours of the morning.

The fire broke out yesterday evening, at the Address Hotel, and the fire spread rapidly, due to strong winds, from the 20th floor to the external interface.


The fire in The Address Downtown Hotel Dubai last night was put out in record time - thanks to concerted efforts by Dubai authorities, especally the Dubai Civil Defence team.

They managed to control the fire well in time for the celebratory fireworks to go on as planned at Burj Khalifa.

The Dubai Government Media Office said: Dubai's successful New Year celebration is testimony to its steadfast commitment to its major projects and initiatives.
