The striker endured a frustrating evening as Chelsea drew 2-2 with West
Brom at Stamford Bridge, but the Dutchman made light of the incident
after the game.
The
Spanish striker cut a frustrated figure throughout the game, as he
repeatedly clashed with Jonas Olsson, Claudio Yacob and Boaz Myhill.
Costa
was unable to get on the scoresheet against the Baggies, and showed his
frustration by ranting at referee Roger East at full-time.
Yet Hiddink leapt to the defence of Costa when asked if the player's behaviour had crossed the line.
He
told reporters: "I think there was a little space left. The central
defenders were provoking him and he was causing danger continuously. It
[the aggression] was mutual.
"They were challenging each other. I
didn't see any bad things. If you have to push the players it's
difficult to survive in the Premier League.
Every now and then if you
have to control them it's much better." And Hiddink has now made light of the incident that saw him lash out in
the tunnel after being escorted down the tunnel by a member of Chelsea’s
backroom team.
"Well we can repair that easily! It's not a big problem,” he added. “He's an emotional guy and I like that very much. If you have to push
the players then I think it's difficult to survive in the Premier
League
but every now and then if you have to control them it's even better."
Guus Hiddink believes Diego Costa has not crossed the line after confirming he punched a hole in the tunnel wall following Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with West Brom on Wednesday.
