Chelsea are prepared to give Patrick Bamford a chance in their first-team squad.
The
22-year-old striker cut short his season-long loan deal with Crystal
Palace to return to Stamford Bridge as he was not spending enough time
on the pitch.
It
was expected that Bamford would be sent on loan elsewhere in January
with Bournemouth keen but Guus Hiddink is considering using him at
Chelsea this season
The Dutchman is understood to have sought advice from Ray Wilkins after they worked together at Chelsea in 2009.
Former
assistant manager Wilkins rates Bamford and suggested he stay, telling
Hiddink that the forward can help solve their problems in front of goal.
A
club insider told Sportsmail: 'He is going to be given a chance with
the first team. There's a swell of support for Patrick at Chelsea. Don't
be surprised to see him on the bench.'
