Istanbul explosion: At least four dead as tourist shopping area Istiklal Street hit by suicide bombing in Turkey (Video)

At least four people were killed and more were wounded in a suicide bombing in a major shopping and tourist district in central Istanbul on Saturday, said the governor of Istanbul.

The explosion was in Istiklal Street, a wide boulevard closed to traffic that is lined with international stores and shopping centers.

Nigeria court jails Russians, Japenese, 10 other foreigners for oil smuggling

A Nigerian court on Friday jailed 14 foreign sailors from Russia, Ukraine, Philippine and Japan between two and five years for unlawful dealing in petroleum products in the country. 

 The federal high court in Lagos found the suspects guilty of illegally transporting 1,738 tonnes of crude oil and some 4,500 tonnes of petrol, also called gasoline, in their vessel MT Anukpet Emerald.

Police in Naivasha, Kenya, are holding a woman who reportedly killed her baby minutes after birth.
Her neighbour, who helped her commit the heinous act, was also arrested.

The two allegedly strangled the newborn using a piece of cloth. According to Standard, the mother of two said she was not ready for another child.

Breaking News: Passenger Plane Crashes While Landing in Russia

A passenger plane from Dubai crashed while landing in Russia Saturday morning and searchers were looking for survivors Saturday, a Russian official said.

The crash happened at an airport in Rostov-on-Don, a spokesperson for the southern regional center of the Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry said. The crash occurred at around 3:30 a.m. local time (8:30 p.m. Friday ET), the ministry said.

Woman punished for extra-marital affair, commits suicide

A mother hanged herself in India after a council of elders punished her family for her suspected extra-marital romance with a lower-caste man, a local police officer said Wednesday.

The mother-of-four killed herself on Monday as dozens of villagers gathered outside her house in central Madhya Pradesh state for a party the council had ordered her family to host as a punishment for the relationship.
