Louis van Gaal has warned Memphis Depay to shape up – or become an Old Trafford casualty like Angel di Maria, writes Steve Bates in the Sunday People.
Argentinian star Di Maria was Manchester United’s record £59.7million signing after his move from Real Madrid in 2014.
But he lasted only one disappointing season at Old Trafford before being sold to French champions Paris Saint-Germain for a £15m loss in August after failing to adapt to the team mentality and philosophy demanded by manager Van Gaal. Sunday People Sport exclusively revealed last week that £25m Depay’s cocky attitude and flashy off-field lifestyle had raised eyebrows at Old Trafford, with assistant manager Ryan Giggs having a word with the youngster.
